As part of the “Keeping It Modern grant” given to the Uganda National Museum, which recognizes the unique design and style of the Uganda Museum building. We were commissioned by the Uganda Museum with support from @gettyfoundation to present a public lecture and panel discussion on museums and architectural conservation which explored topics on the history of Uganda museum and the collections which form the idea on which the museums architectural plan was designed, why modern architecture conservation historical sites matter? Why a conservation management plan is important?
This project is aimed at bringing together a team of international and local experts to assess and study the building in order to, “Develop a conservation management plan to guide future interventions, conservation, and maintenance. Train the museum staff on how to monitor the environment both inside and outside the museum to protect its valuable collections.”
