As we come to the end of our #TalkaokeSkillsLabs a cultural exchange project we have in partnership with @the_peoplespeak and supported by @britisharts @eastafricaarts. Come meet in physical and digital our 20 Talkaoke Skills Lab fellows from the United Kingdom & Uganda on the 10th July, 2022 as they showcase what they learnt from the Labs! Very proud to have been connecting and working with this group of creative artists & ambitious leaders of tomorrow in dialogue over the past few months.

African activists are frequently excluded from spe

African activists are frequently excluded from speaking on international platforms about global issues such as climate change, despite Africa being disproportionately affected. For instance, a common case is the erasure of Ugandan activist Vanessa Nakate at the COP26 UN climate summit another classic example of how western media portrays ‘white saviour’ solutions to the problem, reinforcing the need for real global South involvement.

THE CLIMATE AFRICA NOW PODCAST

Climate Africa Now Podcast will be a weekly audio-visual podcast series highlighting, engaging young climate advocates, influencers and policymakers in empowering conversations that connect all aspects of the climate emergency in Africa. The podcast seeks to explore in dialogue issues around - the individual and the systemic, the scary and the exciting – to deepen communities understanding of the most critical issue of our time as told by African Climate Champions and Activists.

We will invite authoritative voices from more diverse sectors of the-African climate community: storytellers, CEOs, leaders of environmental justice groups, and sustainable food producers, to name a few.

We will use this podcast to ignite, provoke, challenge, advocate, champion, demand policymakers, leaders to listen to the scientists and ACT NOW for Climate Change.

Together with @africaeuropefoundation -- Our overreaching goal is to ensure the conversation around climate change in Africa remains diverse, robust and at the forefront of our civic dialogue. We want to amplify the voices of African activists for Climate Change adding our voices to the many globally and stand to be heard.

We will go beyond simply raising awareness to catalyzing action. We will use this podcast to expose the web of interrelated issues that impact every aspect of our lives. And we will use this podcast to set the stage for one-time adversaries to develop empathy and perhaps become partners who develop solutions that inspire us all in this Climate Change Movement globally.

Linda Nabasa, is a performing artist in Kampala Uganda. A playwright, actress and theatre producer. She co-founded Afroman Spice, a women’s theatre group and Blac Anthem theatre, an artistic initiative for early years theatre. She is the head script writer at Wiz arts foundation where she has written more than 60 radio / audio episodes. As a performer, she has performed in Croatia, Germany, South Africa, Harare, Angola, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Rwanda, Uganda and Tanzania.

James Onen, 46, also known as “Fatboy” is a long-serving radio personality and chief executive officer of a newly launched online radio station known as RX RADIO. He is also the host of The Fatboy Show on RX Radio which airs on weekdays from Monday to Friday. He has courted some controversy over the years for his socially unconventional views towards religion and marriage. He won the 2020 Afrimma Award Winner for Best Media Personality in Africa.

@raymondmalinga , from Uganda, is the CEO of the Creatures Company Ltd, an animation studio based in Kampala. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Visual Effects in 2014 from Multimedia University Cyberjaya, Malaysia. He directed and produced the multi-award-winning animated film A Kalabanda Ate My Homework. Creatures is focused on developing original content in the form of short films, TV shows and feature films that showcase the African spirit in new and fantastic ways. Raymond is currently directing a short film for Disney+ Kizazi Moto Anthology.
